As we officially moved into Autumn this week, we thought you'd like a little weekend mid-season sale, to help you sort out the kids' winter wardrobes ahead of the colder weather. We've got 25% off almost everything in the store, so if you've been filling your virtual shopping basket and fantasy shopping, now is the time to click ORDER!
Finding cool clothes for the kids is sorted, but what about yourself? It's too easy to fall into a bit of a style rut when you have small children. I am as guilty as the next mum of falling into the jeans/jumper/boots trap as soon as the weather turns chilly, but help is at hand. Lovely glamour-puss-mama-blogger Erica Davies of The Edited has created a super stylish selection of Autumn wardrobe ideas over on Ladyland. What do you think? are you ready to Get Onboard The Autumn Trend Train?
This Activewear video by Van Vuuren Bros made me laugh quite a lot. As someone who is wearing their yoga gear as I write (I have actually been to class, I promise), this is one trend I can easily get behind. Well, wearing leggings will make me a fitter mama, won't it? (Via Mother and Baby Magazine, Australia).
On a more serious note, this article from The Guardian looks at how children below the age of 8 do not have the critical capacity to tell the difference between advertisements and the sort of information given to them by their parents and teachers. The rise of apps and games developed by fast food companies would seem to be directed towards targeting children early, and seems to be an area with few regulations. You can read the whole article here: How far is too far when it comes to advertising to children?
I always loved the idea of writing a newspaper a child, so I really enjoyed reading this story about an 8 year old girl who is producing the only printed newspaper in her Pennsylvania town. Including a great reading list for kids of different ages about young journalists, you can read all about Hilde Lysiak and her newspaper on A Mighty Girl's Facebook page, here: Is this 8 year old's newspaper better than yours?
I somehow can't pass a shiny conker on the pavement without popping it in my pocket. I pretend they are for the kids, but really I just love the smooth shininess of them at a time when everything else is getting a little dull. The result, however, is a stack on the hall table that needs a purpose. I love the idea of these conker snakes by Maggy Woodley of Red Ted Art as a great way to use them, but only once they loose their shine, of course....
And finally, we have some new arrivals in the Lolly Loft this week. Firstly, the most amazing winter coats have arrived from Popupshop. Proper warm waterproof winter coats, lined and padded with eco-friendly natural fibres, they are really cosy and super stylish, of course. Check them out here and here. We also have the second drop of Beau Loves live on the site. Including a Bomber Jacket, Cape and a Dress, its all pretty cool. And last but not least, the new AW collection from Nadadelazos has landed. Yippee.
Happy weekend, y'all.
