A quick list of the things that have got us intrigued, excited, interested this week, on Facebook, Twitter, Pinterest, and around the web. Most of it child or parenting related. Some of it...just because.
We shared this article from The Guardian on Facebook this week, and it was really interesting reading people's reactions. Written anonymously by 'The secret teacher', It's all about the things parents complain to their child's teacher about...for example, would you complain about the weather on a school trip? (If you do have concerns about how things are going at school, however, Jump Parents had this useful article about how to raise concerns with your child's teacher constructively: How to talk so your child's teacher will listen.)
As a parent who likes to share the mess and the mayhem far more than the photogenic smiles and best behaviour, this article about the beauty of imperfection made me cheer. "Newsflash: THE CHAOS IS REAL. And if we embrace it, laugh about it and move on, we've shown that we understand what it’s really like to be a parent."
Have you already potty trained your kids? This blog post from Lulastic was a real eye opener for me. With plenty of time and patience, (and a relaxed attitude to finding an occasional poo in your shoe!) you can apparently start potty training newborn babies. Whaaaatttt? Simply amazing! Read about newborns here and toddlers here.
If you have a summer born baby and have contemplated waiting an extra year before they start primary school you may find this article from the Guardian useful.
Ooh, I do like a good list! Check out this great list of things learned by Jen Walshaw (aka Mum in the mad house), from when she turned 40, here, and from the lovely Kat Molesworth (aka Housewife Confidential) when she turned 33, here. I especially love "If it's not a HELL YES its a no", and use it often, particularly in shop changing rooms...
It's a short list this week because it was my birthday yesterday and....well....I think I might go back to bed now.
